Some trainers say that you should use a loud stern, or mean commands when disciplining your dog.
Actually, it can be counter-productive if you use a loud and excited voice.
Your dog listens to body language and energy more than anything else.
When you are excited, it excites them also.
You must be assertive in your training, but calm.
A calm pack leader will get better results.
Yes sometimes you may need to use your voice, and be stern perhaps, like if your pet runs toward oncoming traffic, but remember not to yell or get excited.
The best thing you can do is properly train your dog from the very beginning to follow you as the pack leader, and perhaps this will keep them from running off in the first place.
(Never scold your dog for running off! This conditions them that they can expect to get in trouble, but if you give them love, it makes them want to come back!
Always reward them for coming to you!)
Yelling and being too stern ... It's Fiction!

Abused and neglected pets need love to! Adopt a pet and save two lives... the pet you take home, and the one that takes his place in the shelter!
The more often you cut your dogs nails the better!
Everytime you trim them, the easier it is because not only does your pet get used to having it done, but the quick inside the nail receeds in length.
Shorter nails mean less damage to furniture and flooring, and to your legs when he hops into your lap.
Dogs with shorter nails are even less likely to dig up your yard due to the discomfort!
Our brand of gourmet pet treats, "Uncle Adres'", is named after our beloved Lab-JRT mix, who past in 2009.
